John 11:38-44

Read John 11:38-44

Lazarus came out of the tomb to start the second part of his life!  I wonder how he felt as he stepped out into the daylight to be greeted by the guests at his own funeral?  Jesus’ first concern was to make sure that the graves clothes, that were almost tripping him up, should be removed.  He was also keen to get the cloth off his face so he could see properly.  Jesus said to them “Take off the grave clothes and let him go.”

When we first become a Christian it is like starting life all over again.  The things that often trip the new Christian up are the old bad habits from our life before we knew Jesus.  We need to allow Jesus to get us sorted so that we can walk without tripping over the past and so that we can see where to go.  Jesus said to them “Take off the grave clothes and let him go.”

  • What are the grave clothes that prevent you from seeing or try to trip you up?
  • Have you asked Jesus to take them off you?

May we be truly free to walk into the second part of our lives.
