John 21:15-25

Read John 21:15-25

There’s something intrinsically sad about reaching the end of a good book.  The story is over – no more plot twists, no more adventures.  The characters in the story are frozen in time and in our imagination…

But the gospel story does not stop at the end of the book.  The last words in John’s gospel are “Jesus also did many other things.  If they were all written down, I suppose the whole world could not contain the books that would be written.”  The story goes on because Jesus – the central character – is alive.  He is making history through you and I.  We are writing the next verse and chapter even today.

Jesus is still very much alive and working in the world today, in and through those who make themselves available to him.  Let’s play our part in the story.  His story awaits your contribution in Jesus…

  • Jesus asks Peter if he loves him three times.  How would you respond?
  • What is your unique contribution to the continuing gospel story?

May we write the next chapters of the gospel to the best of our ability in Christ.
