Young people in England today need hope. They need a faith of their own upon which they can stand securely. They need to know God is for them and that amidst all the turmoil there is hope and a life adventure to be had with Him. Our prayer and desire for them is to experience God’s power whilst having a lot of fun doing so. Our youth covers year 7 to year 13. Recognising the very different needs of this age group we meet in two groups on a Sunday morning – years 7 – 9 and years 10 plus. Our overriding aim is for them to experience God so they take their own faith and have fun doing so. This usually means games and food combined with a short biblical point followed by prayer in which we encourage the youth to ask God for pictures and words for each other. From September 2011 our older youth will be taught, teach themselves, stay in our services and be taken by us to St Marys in Marylebone once a month for an evening service. We believe it is important for them to be looked after by the church and as members of the church do some of the morning activities. Connect belongs to all of us and so we are trying to make our youth feel valued members of the church and to properly integrate them. We have an incredible bunch of youth who we wish to teach how to serve and to serve – they are the church.
